Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (PEO C4I) is celebrating its 20th anniversary Oct. 11, serving as the Navy's first line to acquire the right communication and technology tools to deliver affordable, integrated, and interoperable information warfare capabilities to the fleet.

The command, based in San Diego, is comprised of nearly 1,700 government civilians, Sailors, and industry partners who work across 11 program offices.

“It’s a true privilege and honor to serve alongside these dedicated professionals,” said Rear Admiral Kurt Rothenhaus, PEO C4I Commander, “A brilliant and dedicated PEO team, truly cool technology, all of us focusing on a mission that matters for our Nation – what could be better!”

PEO C4I’s 11 program offices include Multifunctional Information Distribution System (PMW/A 101), Battlespace Awareness and Information Operations (PMW 120), Cybersecurity (PMW 130), Navy Command and Control Systems (PMW 150), Tactical Networks (PMW 160), Communications and GPS Navigation (PMW/A 170), International C4I Integration (PMW 740), Carrier and Air Integration (PMW 750), Ship Integration (PMW 760), Undersea Communications and Integration (PMW 770), and Shore and Expeditionary Integration (PMW 790).

PEO C4I plays a critical role in the Navy by, “enabling decision superiority for the Fleet,” noted Rothenhaus. “We deliver this through the rapid delivery of communications, command and control, intelligence, signals intelligence, meteorological, tactical networks, and cyber systems across the Fleet.”

A critical component of PEO C4I’s mission is the ability to team across the Navy to deliver. “How do we stay out ahead of our potential adversaries,” asked Rothenhaus. “It’s working with our fellow PEO’s, systems commands, the Navy Research and Development enterprise, and both the traditional defense and commercial sector industry partners.”

As part of the command’s commitment to building strong and lasting relationships with industry partners, PEO C4I is active in events held by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA), and the American Society of Naval Engineers (ASNE).

Most recently, Dr. William “Bill” Luebke, PEO C4I’s Executive Director, hosted a PEO C4I Small Business Fair, welcoming small businesses including those owned and operated by women, veterans, and disabled. The goal of the event was to welcome small businesses to the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) campus, to collaborate with PEO C4I program managers and discuss the capabilities, innovations, and projects on which they are currently working.

Frederick J. Stefany, Performing the Duties of Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, wished PEO C4I continued success in honor of the team’s milestone, “Congratulations to the entire PEO C4I team! The command has achieved a lot since its founding 20 years ago. I celebrate with everyone on the PEO team.”

For the past two decades, PEO C4I has focused on its top priority, “With an eye on our north star of supporting the Sailors and Marines we have the privilege to serve, the entire PEO team is innovating at every level with a sense of urgency to meet strategic competition,” said Rothenhaus. “Driving affordability to spend the tax-payers money wisely, and focus on delivery of systems across the portfolio as a seamless capability end-to-end.”

As the command looks ahead to the future, PEO C4I will continue to provide agility, efficiency, innovation, and capability to the warfighter.
